Helping the poorest among us
Ape atha-hitha ape ayatama
Let us share their joy
"At the dawn of the new millennium most of us had dreams and I am no exception. As a journalist of a popular Sinhala newspaper in Sri Lanka ,I was fortunate or rather unfortunate to witness many episodes of social drama in our little island. Most of them are indeed unfortunate stories. As I was interested in writing these articles of interest for the media, I pondered many times to ask myself: Is this the end of this human drama of tragedy? How can we help victims of these circumstances ? Isn’t there another way of helping them to achieve their goals in life? Of course, my articles were published and I am certain that the readers would have been touched by them. But ….! Yes, there was a ‘big but’ inside my heart, creating a vast vacuum, which I never experienced before.
Years passed by and I am on my way to fulfill my dream though Public Relief Caring Foundation, an NGO duly registered with the Sri Lanka government, under their reference number. I am well aware of the fact that I am sharing my dream with many well wishes to accomplish our desire of making our brethren living in less fortunate environment, happy and contended. With the help and blessings of many Sri Lankans who live in this blessed country and overseas, we shall make the dream of our own school children, in one of the remotest village in sri lanka, in providing facilities to complete the school curriculum and get qualified to secure a job or to enter into a university. In addition to this noble activity, we are directly involved in building houses for these innocent and helpless brethren and provision of healthcare equipment.
We have received blessings from various individuals and organizations and in particular from Rev Dr Godagama Mangala Thero, who is our honorary patron. We are in the path of making our dream a reality, and sharing the joy of our own parents and students.. Let us smile with the recipients of our contributions, when they reap their benefits."
